Yep. Last module going up at the end of the month.
CitizenPremier -> PossibleBuffalo418
but Chinese space news does not fare well on Reddit.
Nhexus -> CitizenPremier
Supposedly if you speak "China" 3 times on a reddit thread, a seppo appears and starts talking about social credits
patriotic_traitor -> CitizenPremier
Yea for a bunch of self proclaimed progressives it’s pretty racist here.
MrJoyless -> CitizenPremier
Well, they have tended to just shoot rockets into space without telling anyone. In the space/astronaut community this is known as a dick move. That's just one example of the discourteous things they have been doing in recent memory.
TargaMaestro -> MrJoyless
Do they have any obligations to tell anyone? The Chinese space station is built all by themselves without any foreign participation so there is no obligation whatsoever for the Chinese to “tell” anyone because there does not exist a partnership at all.
Again, why would Chinese have to tell anyone before shooting a Chinese rocket from China to a Chinese space station?
pervyotaku -> tommos
It says something about a module coming next year too

Just found out it was motivated by the fact NASA wouldn't let them into the ISS
What_u_say -> bluemafoo
That's not really NASA fault though. Politics got in the way of that with Congress and the intelligence agencies being against any further cooperation between NASA and CNSA. NASA being a government science and exploration program can't exactly go against what the government dictates.
CitizenPremier -> What_u_say
Astronauts around the world want to work together.
Itadorimu -> What_u_say
But Russia was fine?
round-earth-theory -> Itadorimu
The ISS was created as a way for the US and Russia to have a common goal. The idea being that some cooperation in science would improve relations elsewhere.
Nethlem -> Itadorimu
There would be literally no ISS without Russia.
The ISS was built on what was originally supposed to be Mir 2, that's why the propulsion modules, that keep the station in a stable orbit, and the life-support system are all Russian.
Not only that, after the US discontinued its space shuttle program Russia was the only country that could actually launch supplies and people up there.
This is also why the USG is pouring so much money into SpaceX and why Musk is so certain it's gonna keep doing that; Without the private sector, the US wouldn't have any space-flight capabilities at all.
MapedMod -> Itadorimu
Well, Russian modules were one of the first building blocks of ISS
fatalicus -> Itadorimu
Couldn't realy say no to them, when they were dependent on Russian rockets to send crew to the station.

The ISS is getting replaced soon. Hopefully within the next 10 or so years. Some Equipment has been in there for over 20 years. NASA (iirc) has no plans to replace the old modules, and instead we’re going to build a new space station instead. As for the old one we’re planning to crash it into the middle of the ocean.
WingerRules -> lego-baguette
It will be replaced by commercial corporation controlled ones instead of as a government science mission like ISS and the Chinese stations.
Zevhis -> PumpkinAutomatic5068
It's a result of ISS banning China
Thrannn -> PumpkinAutomatic5068

This experiment reminds me of the sci-fi movie passengers, where Jennifer Lawrence gets trapped in floating water sphere and almost drowning in the space ship swimming pool when the ship looses artificial gravity. Then she survives when the artificial gravity gets restored and water sphere drops back into the pool with her in it.

poopnose85 -> mostly_helpful
Yes, but without gravity there would be no buoyancy to keep you on the surface. You'd have to battle surface tension, but idk you might be able to separate yourself from it

Due to its greater mass density the iron bearing will reduce the length over which internal disturbances can be freely generated, and therefore the energy associated with their fluid motion. Additionally, the bearing will also absorb incident mechanical waves that would otherwise be free to propagate around the volume.
In general, it's difficult to come up with a direct practical application because the experiment occurs in 0-g which we cannot presently manufacture on the surface of the Earth.
-Tinderizer- -> Ashamandarei
Practical application is to use solid objects in liquid transport tanks as baffles to reduce sloshing as the vehicle starts and stops. Products already exist and are in use today.

They present you with a problem and you have to apply what knowledge you have to solve it. Anyways I'm guessing it's because water molecules attract to each other, this is why water has surface tension, this is how some bugs are able to walk on water (no Jesus jokes please). The water molecules wrap themselves around the iron ball, which has more inertia then the water alone, this allows the water to resist the disturbance from the jet of air. The kinetic energy that is traveling through the water is partially being absorbed by the iron ball

IIRC its actually a side effect of zero gravity
Two thirds of our bodies are made up of fluids. On Earth, gravity pulls most of this towards our legs. In zero gravity, fluids naturally travel upwards into our face and head, causing them to look swollen. This gives astronauts 'puffy face syndrome'. The extra fluid in the head may lead to blocked noses and sinuses but once astronauts are back on Earth, they return to their normal appearance.

Have. They have a space station to themselves.

Yea the international space community banned China so they created their own.
Originally, they thought the Chinese were too stupid and would contribute nothing to the space programs due to the Chinese space program only being 5 years old. So China built their own space station.
Now it's more due to mistrust solely from America's NASA even though most other nation's space agencies don't mind. Even though Russia was invited.
Personally, I think NASA is just being petty cause China did what took NASA decades to do in just a few short years and proved them wrong that China had nothing to contribute.
IMSOGIRL -> talivus
nah it wasn't the international community, and it wasn't even NASA. It was some fucking racist-ass senators fearing they'll gain more knowledge about space technology.
