China has been raising eyebrows with its missions to space, but Beijing’s new ambition is jaw dropping. Beijing has ordered a 5-year study to investigate the possibility of building world’s largest spacecraft. China intends to build a kilometer-long spacecraft, making it one of the most ambitious projects in human history.

I wouldn't consider it difficult. The Space shuttle was a 50 metre long vehicle regularly reaching orbit and the ISS. How difficult would it be for 20 such vehicles with more utility area to be sent there and joined in orbit? Not that tough or expensive considering how many missions the space shuttle program achieved. On the plus side, large though it maybe such a system can be designed to disengage and returned to earth as well. Good luck to the Chinese and India should consider it too if it serves a purpose. - UP: 0
