In a wide-ranging press gaggle before departing for the G-7 gathering in France late Friday, President Donald Trump spoke positively of world leaders, North Korea and the economy and said his recent remark calling himself the "chosen one" to fight China on trade was sarcasm.

Trump called himself the "chosen one" on Wednesday as he discussed trade disputes with China while refusing to claim the trade conflict as solely his responsibility.

When asked Friday night what gave him the power to make such a sweeping decree, Trump cited the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which gives the president the power to regulate commerce during exceptional international crises.

The "chosen one" was probably sarcasm but most of his other utterances were not and he continues to pose a serious danger to our way of life. The one thing we have learned for sure is that electing an unqualified person to the highest office generates more anxiety than many people can tolerate.

Yeah ... I do understand. He meant it as a joke. But, in light of those previous comments above, his "joke" is far from funny. And his statement Saturday, "... little did I realize that the media would claim that I had a Messiah complex" completely rings hollow.
But, in Trumpworld it's, "NOTHING I said previously (even a day ago) counts. Only what I say RIGHT NOW matters." It's a personality disordered narcissist thing.

Also, the IEEPA falls under the provisions of the National Emergencies Act (NEA), which means that an emergency must be declared under the act. No such emergency has been declared. Maybe it's Trump who should become familiar with both the NEA and the IEEPA. Or maybe one of aides could read them and explain that both actually limit his powers (can't invoke B without first invoking A).
