It does not take guts to attack China. It takes sheer and utter stupidity. China has a lot of land and incredible defenses to protect itself. The only way you could really hurt them is to use nuclear weapons. And once we use Nukes on China, they will retaliate in kind. With conventional weapons we might be able to stand our own against China in the South China Sea, Gulf of Tonkin, East China Sea, Formosa Straights, and Sea of Japan. But it would be the same results. We would have to leave because we would be in no shape to continue the battle. Do not misunderstand me. I am not saying we would loose. But we would not win. It is one thing to defeat an enemy and take over his territory. It is quite another to hold on to that territory once you take it. China on the other hand, would withdraw back on its territory and load up again. At the same time, China would go after anyone that offered support to U.S. forces. That means Japan, Okinawa, Guam and South Korea would be lost to us. If we use nuclear weapons, expect to loose anything that even smells American in the South China Sea and the areas of dispute. If the USA is the aggressor, that is, if we start combat operations against China, Australia, Japan, South Korea and some of the other countries around the South China Sea, will not join in. Their forces are for their defense. In fact, the Japanese military is called the Japan Self Defense Forces. Do not think for a minute they will join someone as unreliable as Trump in any effort to attack China. In any war between USA and the China, they will be the first targets.
As I said, It does not take guts to attack China. It takes sheer and utter stupidity. Therefore, given the current state of politics in the USA, and the leadership behind those politics, I believe there is a 60 to 65 % chance we will attack China.

Well Paul, you are right. But if I can offer my observation: Personally, I think the Civil War never ended. The traitors that seceded from the Union were never punished or call to account. This is why you see the same hateful racist garbage that follows our Orange Hitler gaining so much power and influence. It is not so much that the North won, the Civil War, but that the South does not think they really lost it. You are right, but I would say that the best thing would be if we started it up again and this time we do not stop until we eradicate all these white vermin, inbreds , and White Garbage once and for all. No one in the Western World knows how much grit Asians in general, and the Chinese in particular have. I found out in Viet Nam between January 1969 and April 1970. I really have no wish to have it reconfirmed.

There is another reason. Even when China was at the weakest, China still beat the US in the Korean War. The US had to threaten the Chinese with nuclear weapons to get them to not completely destroy the US forces in Korea. They were then evacuated from Korea.
China is no where near that weak and has a massive amount of missiles all designed to kill US ships. Starting a war, as you said, would be sheer stupidity.
Fighting another land war with China is just asking to be spanked.
And I hope and pray that my brothers in the military are not stupid enough to launch nuclear weapons just because Trump the idiot said so. First thing we learned when I was in was the Nuremberg trials. Let’s hope that there are still sane people in the upper echelons of the military.

It is unwise to expect that 15–20 aircraft carriers can defeat the mainland China in 2020.
First, the issue is that China has advantages as a defender. Secondly, China’s productivity is also a great great advantage in a war against USA, which has to maintain a complicated and super long supply line. Third, China is at its best shape of thousands of years. The CCP is greatly supported by the majority of Chinese.
Let’s not consider China attacking USA first because that’s just impossible.
Nuclear weapon is the only choice which USA can actually win a war against China. Unfortunately, China also has nuclear weapons and it has the capacity to land these weapons in the USA.
What else USA can do to slow down China productivity? By bombing mega cities and killing millions of Chinese innocents? That’s only going to push China fighting back, even with nuclear warheads.
It is very likely that a nuclear war would happen between USA and China eventually. If it were the case, it would be the end of the world.

I think whether it is Trump or any future POTUS will still target China. The GOP and the DEMS may fight like cats and dogs in the US, but for agendas against China, they're like passionate lovers in bed. Most people may not agree with me, Trump because of his stupidity is actually good for China. Trump's foul mouthing allies, sanctions on allies and betrayal of allies can only pushed these allies further away from the US. Not that these allies will be with China but at the very least they are not with the US. If we have a thinking POTUS, future actions against China will be much harder to deal with. Recently the US has pushed very hard again to undermine Huawei which l feel is futile, it is time for China to flex some muscles by limiting the amount of rare earth exported to the US or any country working in cahoots with her.

The Chinese did it once with Japan, l think 2 years ago, where they severely restricted export of rare earth. If the US pressed China too hard, l won't rule that out. It's better than going to war.

I keep having to debunk this BS about China having 270 missiles. They had that in the 80’s. You really think that for 40 years with the US threatening them, that they have not built a single nuclear weapon?!?
Let me tell you a story. The reason this is important is because the US Dept. of Defense is lying and they know it. Because if the US citizens knew that China had more than enough nuclear weapons to ensure that ALL US cities and towns would be nuked twice with megaton weapons, they would not be stirring for a fight with China.
In the 90’s there was a congressional hearing about Chinese military capability. Congress wanted to know how long it would be before China could shoot down US satellites. A 4 star Air Force general was there to answer questions in the hearing. The 4 star general said, that China would need AT LEAST another 10 years before acquiring the capability to shoot down satellites so no worries there.
While that general was telling Congress this. The Chinese launched a rocket which carried an ASAT and shot down a satellite. So let’s all believe what the Pentagon says. That China only has 200 nuclear weapons and has not built any for the last 40–50 years.
They built a 5,000 KM tunnel (3,000 miles long) under a mountain range with blast doors to hold their measely 200 warheads which would come out to about 40 missiles. Yeah. That’s it. Those Boomers the Chinese have, are empty. It’s just a bluff.

There are roughly 50 to 60 million people in this country that are as stupid or more so than Trump. They feed on his hateful rhetoric, and he feeds on their adulation. Plus, he is totally ignorant of consequences of military confrontation or conflict. Remember, he is the one that stood next to a USAF stealth fighter and was amazed that he could see an invisible plane. I am surprised he did not cancel the contract because he could see the plane and therefore, not invisible. If he thinks his base wants it or thinks he can deflect the blame for his dismal handling of the virus, he might just do it.
Please recognize the fact that this man has no soul, no moral compass, no diplomatic knowledge, no knowledge of history or world events, no knowledge of the consequences of war, and suffers from a serious case of depraved indifference for his country and for humanity in general. He is just the right man at the right time to end this country. Trust him at your own peril.
