It is consistent with Beijing's way of dealing with the 2003 SARS outbreak, when a temporary hospital was erected north of the capital in just one week.

The building of this hospital by the Chinese government should give wake up to the do nothing political machinations of western government that face a growing public homeless problem. If China can build a thousand bed hospital in 10 days what is wrong with western governments when they can't provide housing for their populations. They talk about China human rights abuses, what about western human rights abuses.

However, I think that you will find that the Chinese are rated as first class engineers these days and therefore likely to be leagues above the engineering reputation of the Amish people. It might not look dangerous when compared to inflenza. In the US, for example, they have 159 flu deaths a day and that is in a country that actively promotes vaccination. But this virus is potentially worse as there are no vaccines against it yet and they are still researching it so that they can mount an effective defence. The hospitals were built because their medical services were overstretched in trying to contain the outbreak. It will probably be another couple of weeks before we will understand if they have been successful or not.

I was looking at the migration camps on Lesbos. It's clear that the EU or has not the necessary funding, or is not interested in the welbeing of these African men, or has not the know-how to build housing like the Chinese are able to do in 2 weeks. Otherwise these "asylum seekers" would have a decent temporary house instead of a tent. It's not only the US that's becoming a third world country, the EU is lagging behind as well. So what's left? Certainly not Africa.

I don't think there is any western government that could in 10 days produce a working medical facility to house a thousand people in such short a time. Perhaps it will end being a warehouse but shows China is not a country that can be taken lightly.
