For historical reasons, Chinese people consume relatively little beef because we are an agrarian society. In ancient times, cattle were crucial productive assets.

It's similar to the literary logic in American Prohibition-era novels, where gangsters casually drink alcohol to showcase the heroic bravado of the male protagonist.

Recently, Brazil and Argentina have been dumping beef in China, causing domestic beef prices to plummet by 50% in a very short time. Chinese cattle farmers are suffering, but most citizens are quite happy—especially those who love eating beef.

If Americans are too stupid to see the impact on US exports that would be the result, why is that Australia’s fault.
Australia has a big trade deficit with the USA. It has zero tariffs on US goods, but in the stupidest reading in history of the word “reciprocal”, the US applied 10% tariffs on Australian exports.
Australia is literally one of the stupidest countries in the world for the US to have put tariffs on (not the stupidest because, of course, they put tariffs on the US military base on Diego Garcia, and on islands in the Antarctic with nobody living on them - but it’s up there…)
So - the US, in a show of monstrous stupidity, puts tariffs on Australia - who actually sell a lot of beef to the USA, but which is now impacted by tariffs. At the same time, they put huge tariffs on China, but are apparently stupid enough to not expect retaliatory tariffs by China which means that there are now huge tariffs on US beef imports into China.

The world trade organisations prediction for world trade is a minor decline of 0.2% instead of the usual increase. The major factor in this is US imports & exports which are expected to drop by over 9% & 12% respectively. To me that looks like Trumps tariffs are increasing the trade deficit he gets so upset about if they are right.

I can only guess this is a bot, because no human would ask such a truly inane question.
The beauty about international trade is that countries can in fact make their own deals, without asking for approval from the USA. No one actually has to deal with the USA. The US has just declared a tariff tax on the world including Australia. The US wanted to tax the whole world to help pay down its debt of more than 36 trillion Dollars. Under the rules of the WTO, set by itself, no country should be allowed to do so. The US broke the rules it helped to set! Why shouldn’t Australia sell to China if it is in the interest of Australia? Should Australia let Argentina or Brazil or Russia to take the sales? To the Chinese, Australian beef was chosen because it was the best price for its quality. The US was definitely for tariffs. The world was against the tariffs. Was Australia for the tariffs from the US because it was bad for the world?
Most of the trade organizations of the world like WTO, RCEP, BRI, ASEAN etc. were for a tariff free trading arrangements amongst countries. That means that Free Trade is the preferred mode of trade. The US had gone rogue. What more that it had not only imposed a tariff on Canadian imports but it also wanted to annex Canada to be the 51st state of the US. Maybe the questioner also wanted Australia to be the 52nd state of the US? Canada is refusing to be annexed and fighting back with counter-measures. It would rather sell its gas and oil to China!
In summary, the world would most likely isolate the US. It did not mean that when the US unilaterally wanted to destroy the old benevolent trading system, it could do so with impunity against the wishes of the world! China is doing the world a favor by standing up against the tariff war together with Canada and Mexico. The EU will decide soon. Will Australia support the US? Australians might have remembered the lesson on how the US back stabbed them when Scott Morrison's Liberal Party tried to lick Trump's ass.
ScoMo tried hard to please Trump by being provocative towards China on almost every issue. From fabricating lies about the Chinese spy to blaming China for covid-19, from banning Chinese company like Huawei to echoing the US on interfering Chinese affairs in Taiwan, Xinjiang and Hong Kong etc.
In the end, all he earned for his clown show were economic sanctions from China and back stabbing from the US as the US stole a lot of export shares from Australia as a result of retaliation from China. Investment from China in Australia sharply declined from billions of dollars per annum to almost nothing and him and his party was rewarded with a crushing defeat by Labour in 2022 which was what he and his party deserved. It took Albanese his entire term to restore the relationship with China.
Now, Australia faces a 10% tariff from the US despite it is one of the very few countries who has a trade deficit with the US.
Australia sets a perfect example of what you will get for being a US lackey.

Well, trump can impose more tariffs on Australia and that will just increase the price of Australian goods sold in the USA. Those increased costs are paid for by the customer in the USA - no problem for Australia.
I guess that means Californians wanting to rebuild more fire resistant houses with Australian Colorbond roofing material will just have to pay more.
And of course they might run short of meat for their Hamburgers since we are now selling much more beef to China rather than the USA.
Incidentally, the choice to switch beef suppliers was China's, nit Australia's.
