A common misconception regarding fusion is that people think the reaction grows experientially once initiated like fision reactions, meaning they require constant control systems (like control rods) to prevent critical mass.
However, given fusion is only found naturally in stars (which are among the largest & most massive obxts in the universe) I'm surprised most people don't realise that fusion has to reach critical mass before the reaction can be self sustaining.
Basically, there is knowhere near enough mass to produce a naturally self sustaining fusion reaction (it'd have to be many time more massive than earth) , and if the machine/mechanism starts malfunctioning, we simply pull the plug and the fusion reaction fizzles out on its own, without an explosion, due to there nit being enough mass to maintain it. - Like:7

Have to admire the Chinese. Earlier, it was only Europe, US and Russia doing the big strides in technology advancement. But honestly, only China and Japan are the flagbearers who can make Asia proud in scientific revolution and compete against the Europeans, Americans and Russians. From what I have gathered from the internet,at this moment its all about sustaining the fusion for a minute or even a few seconds. Moreover the energy required to kickstart the fusion is really really high as compared to the output.
However once the scientists are able the successfully sustain the reaction for longer durations then thw energy cost will be among the most cheaper out there.
