the way aircraft carriers are built now days you would need a very powerful explosive to sink one. america once tried to sink one of their own carriers in 2005 inorder to test how much of a beating it could take. they launched explosives at it for a month and it was still floating. they had to manually scuttle it in the end. people seem to think that the aircraft carrier is something that cant take a hit due to its escort fleet. but even a carrier without an escort fleet is a force to be reckoned with. the idea of "if we could just hit it we could sink it" quickly succumbs to reality once you actually do manage to hit one of these behemoths. of course it can be sunk just like any other ship but unlike most other ships sinking a modern us navy carrier is not as easy as launch a few missiles at it. unless of course those missiles have nuclear warheads on them which are not required but would be the only way to ensure sinking it in one hit. the media tends to make every story seem like its the end of the world in order to get clicks. but rest assured if the public has known hyper sonic missiles were coming for years then the military has known it for decades and already had countermeasures in place before we ever knew of the threat.- Up:2 Down:2

You need to look up CIWS on the net. It can saturate a portion of sky with projectiles, and will shred anything coming from that trajectory. The US certainly can take out multiple missiles at once. the way aircraft carriers are built now days you would need a very powerful explosive to sink one. america once tried to sink one of their own carriers in 2005 inorder to test how much of a beating it could take. they launched explosives at it for a month and it was still floating. they had to manually scuttle it in the end. people seem to think that the aircraft carrier is something that cant take a hit due to its escort fleet. but even a carrier without an escort fleet is a force to be reckoned with. the idea of "if we could just hit it we could sink it" quickly succumbs to reality once you actually do manage to hit one of these behemoths. of course it can be sunk just like any other ship but unlike most other ships sinking a modern us navy carrier is not as easy as launch a few missiles at it. unless of course those missiles have nuclear warheads on them which are not required but would be the only way to ensure sinking it in one hit. the media tends to make every story seem like its the end of the world in order to get clicks. but rest assured if the public has known hyper sonic missiles were coming for years then the military has known it for decades and already had countermeasures in place before we ever knew of the threat.- Up:2 Down:2
